Linear Program-Based Approximation for Personalized Reserve Prices

چکیده
We study the problem of computing data-driven personalized reserve prices in eager second price auctions without having any assumption on valuation distributions. Here, input is a data set that contains submitted bids n buyers auctions, and to return r maximize revenue earned these by running with r. For this problem, which known be NP complete, we present novel linear program (LP) formulation rounding procedure, achieves 0.684 approximation. This improves over [Formula: see text]-approximation algorithm from Roughgarden Wang. show our analysis tight for procedure. also bound integrality gap LP, shows it impossible design an yields approximation factor larger than 0.828 respect LP. paper was accepted Chung Piaw Teo, Management Science Special Section Data-Driven Prescriptive Analytics.

A Field Guide to Personalized Reserve Prices
We study the question of setting and testing reserve prices in single item auctions when the bidders are not identical. At a high level, there are two generalizations of the standard second price auction: in the lazy version we first determine the winner, and then apply reserve prices; in the eager version we first discard the bidders not meeting their reserves, and then determine the winner am...
متن کاملOn asymmetric reserve prices
We investigate equilibrium bidding in first-price auctions with asymmetric reserve prices. For example, the auctioneer may set a low reserve price for one subset of bidders and a high reserve price for others. When used to pursue a distributional objective, lowering the reserve price for some bidders channels benefits toward marginal agents in the favored group and does not adversely impact non...
متن کاملModified Linear Approximation for Assessment of Rigid Block Dynamics
This study proposes a new linear approximation for solving the dynamic response equations of a rocking rigid block. Linearization assumptions which have already been used by Hounser and other researchers cannot be valid for all rocking blocks with various slenderness ratios and dimensions; hence, developing new methods which can result in better approximation of governing equations while keepin...
متن کاملa new type-ii fuzzy logic based controller for non-linear dynamical systems with application to 3-psp parallel robot
abstract type-ii fuzzy logic has shown its superiority over traditional fuzzy logic when dealing with uncertainty. type-ii fuzzy logic controllers are however newer and more promising approaches that have been recently applied to various fields due to their significant contribution especially when the noise (as an important instance of uncertainty) emerges. during the design of type- i fuz...

Recently, Jain, Mahdian and Saberi [5] had given a FPTAS for the problem of computing a market equilibrium in the Arrow-Debreu setting, when the utilities are linear functions. Their running time depended on the size of the numbers representing the utilities and endowments of the buyers. In this paper, we give a strongly polynomial time approximation scheme for this problem. Our algorithm build...
